Emergency crews are on the scene of an ongoing incident at a demolition site in Paisley after a man in his 40s was found injured this morning (January 9).
Waverley Road in Paisley and the nearby footpath are closed at Durrockstock Road after police were alerted to the scene at around 9.15am. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Services rushed the male to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment. His condition is currently unknown.
Police Scotland is now urging the public to avoid the area. Pictures shared with Glasgow Live show several emergency vehicles lining the street next to the demolition site where the man was found injured.
The Scottish Ambulance Service trauma team dispatched one ambulance, their trauma team and their special operations team to the scene. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service dispatched two appliances, and a heavy rescue unit to the incident.
An eyewitness told Glasgow Live they saw a person being given CPR at the scene of the disturbance.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers and emergency services are in attendance on Waverley Road in Paisley following a report of a person being found injured.
“Police were called to the scene at around 9.15am on Friday, 9 January, 2026. The road and adjacent footpath is currently closed at Durrockstock Road and the public are asked to avoid the area.”
A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call today to attend an incident on Waverley Road in Paisley. We dispatched one ambulance, our trauma team and our special operations team to the scene. We transported one male patient in his 40s to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 9.16am on Friday, 9 January, to support emergency service partners on Waverley Street in Paisley.
“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances and a heavy rescue unit to the scene.
“Crews left the area at 10.37am after ensuring the area was safe.”
