GOGGLEBOX FANS RUSH TO SUPPORT BAASIT SIDDIQUI AND WIFE AFTER EMOTIONAL PERSONAL NEWS

Gogglebox viewers have flocked to support Baasit Siddiqui and his wife, Melissa, following their heartwarming family update.

Television personality Baasit rose to prominence when he appeared in the debut series of the popular Channel 4 programme back in 2013, alongside the rest of his cherished family.

Throughout the years, Baasit has been accompanied on the settee by his two siblings, Umar and Raza, plus their dad, Sid. His mother, Nasreen, though, has not featured on the programme.

And it's safe to say they quickly established themselves as absolute favourites amongst viewers. Across the years, the Siddiquis - who reside in Derby - have left audiences in hysterics with their brilliant quips and amusing reactions to the television highlights.

Beyond the programme, however, Baasit is smitten with spouse Melissa. The couple, who wed in 2014, share two youngsters, Amelia and Theodore, reports the Mirror. This week, though, Baasit and Mel had supporters gathering around them after they posted a lovely family milestone, disclosing that Theodore had lost his first tooth.

Posting on her Instagram, Mel shared multiple pictures from the significant occasion and penned in the caption: "Big moment for Theodore this weekend - he FINALLY lost his first tooth! ! He been waiting so long bless him and Sunday was the day!".

"Amelia's been in bed with the flu, bless her...so not as much of a fun weekend for her. Hope you've all had a lovely weekend? Monday let's go."

Supporters swiftly flooded the comments section to express their delight at the post. One individual remarked: "Omg that's just the cutest." Another commented: "Aww bless him." A third wrote: "Bless him gotta love the tooth fairy."

The Siddiquis first started featuring on Gogglebox after Baasit was contacted by an acquaintance involved in the pilot programme. Umar previously told Radio Times: "We did a bit of an audition, where people came round with a camera and some flash cards. - images of Boris Johnson, Simon Cowell.

"And they said, 'Right, just say the first thing that comes into your mind'. Whatever dynamic we had seemed to suit the show, because they asked us if we wanted to be part of it. And they've kept on asking us."

Despite achieving nationwide recognition, Sid maintained his daily routine hasn't altered "vastly", with the retired engineer noting: "As far as our lifestyles are concerned, it's still the same way. We were a close-knit family and that we remain... If anything, we've probably consolidated that because of the show."

Gogglebox airs every Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
